New Delhi– Delhi court has given a two-week interim bail to Amit Arora, director of the Gurugram-based company Buddy Retail Pvt Limited, in a money lustration case associated with an alleged excise scam. The bail order was granted on June 6 by the Special Judge for ED and CBI matters, Kaveri Baweja, for Arora, who needed to attend to his wife, who had undergone surgery recently.
The court heard submissions of the suitor’s side and senior advocate Vikas Pahwa that delineated the family’s circumstances. Pahwa highlighted that Arora was a widower and his wife had parents; the mother, presently aged 72 years, resides in Mohali, Punjab and the brother, two in number, resides in Bengaluru, India and London, UK. The judge said that the cousin and other related family members do not also reside nearby or are in any position to become involved in caregiving. Therefore, it was pointed out that all the other members of the extended family could not fill the vacuum created by missing Arora in their lives as a husband and fathers.
While giving out the order, Judge Baweja said, “Thus after having elaborated on and considering the submissions made, the record of the case together with the medical records of wife of the applicant, medical condition of his two children, as discussed above, and given the fact that there is no other person who can attend the applicant as well as the wife for the required post-surgery care and support, the application under consideration is allowed. ”
With regards to Arora’s interim bail, he was granted subject to a real security of ₹2 lakh along with one solvent surety of a similar amount. The judge allowed Arora to work under certain conditions, including that he cannot travel out of the Delhi NCR area unless he needs to attend to his wife, who needs medical attention. In addition, he cannot touch the object of evidence, approach or address any witness, commit any other criminal offence or misconduct, or abuse the bail allowed by law.
