The Enforcement Directorate (ED) brought Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal before a Delhi court as his custodial remand ended on Thursday. Kejriwal was escorted to the Rouse Avenue court at 1:45 PM regarding the money-laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy scam. The Aam Aadmi Party anticipates Kejriwal’s “big expose” on the excise policy scam in court today. Kejriwal’s advocate Gupta conveyed that the Delhi CM desires to address the court personally.
In his address to the court, Kejriwal expressed that the case has been ongoing for the past two years, and despite his arrest, there have been no convictions or allegations against him. He highlighted that 31,000 pages have been submitted to the court, with his name appearing in only four statements.
Kejriwal elaborated on the statements, mentioning individuals like C Arvind and Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, stating discrepancies in their testimonies. He pointed out inconsistencies where statements were changed after certain events and emphasized the absence of concrete evidence against him.
Moreover, Kejriwal questioned the selective presentation of statements and raised concerns about the case’s credibility. He alleged political motives behind the investigation, citing a purported money trail involving Sarath Reddy and the BJP.
However, the ED countered Kejriwal’s assertions in court, opposing his claims and emphasizing the validity of their probe.
Overall, Kejriwal’s appearance in court marked another chapter in the ongoing legal battle, with both sides presenting their arguments regarding the alleged excise policy scam. The proceedings shed light on the case’s complexities and its political implications.
