In order to prevent military clashes between Pakistan and India, there has been harsh security posted all over Delhi’s important establishments, such as highly sensitive government installations and public places. The decision comes on the eve of a heightened state of alert, night after Pakistani military drone and missile attacks on a number of Indian border areas on Thursday.
A top-ranked Delhi Police official stated that its top security is now in place, with top infrastructure, government buildings and courts, foreign embassies, and even sewage water treatment plants, all being protected now. Extra personnel, including paramilitary, have been put in these areas as a preventative measure.
Police presence at high foot traffic public places such as markets, shopping malls, parks, metro stations, and railway termini has also been pronounced. Officials mentioned that night patrols have been stepped up, with the special instruction to remain highly visible and ready.
In a big gesture, the leaves of all Delhi Police personnel were cancelled on Thursday night to ensure round-the-clock staff in the capital. “We’re stacking up more forces in every sensitive zone. Increased vigilance during night hours has been taken with a lot of seriousness,” said a senior police officer involved in the operations.
Top-level liaison is being made whereby special commissioners hold security review meetings with their deputy commissioners to review the situation in real time. From the police sources, all Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) have been ordered to personally look after law and order in their areas where they are stationed.
“All precautionary measures have been taken,” a police official said. “Delhi Police is fully prepared to respond to any potential threat. We are on high alert and we have all the units working day and night to maintain the safety of citizens.”
The capital remains tranquil but on guard as national security bodies on close watch over movements along the India-Pakistan border.
