Delhi: With the security agencies still investigating more into the deadly explosion near the Red Fort of Delhi that killed at least 12 people, Faridabad Police have scaled up their questioning to include a huge number of Kashmiri students and tenants living in the city. Authorities announced on Monday that more than 2,000 people have already been interviewed as part of the initiatives of tracking any other connection with the so-called white-collar terror module that is suspected of having caused the explosion.

Due to a statement of the Faridabad Police, the investigation is centered on students, and tenants residing in rented rooms around the district. The police teams do not stop at door-to-door checks, identity checks, and background checks so that no possible lead can be missed. The statement also added that over 2,000 tenants have already been questioned by Faridabad police and they are still doing so.

It has been noted that the Al-Falah University in Faridabad has become one of the hot spots in the investigation. Previous searches within the campus had discovered caches of arms, explosives, ammonium nitrate and other materials that were suspected to be extreme and some students and persons having ties with the university were found to be connected to the said terror network.

The probe has now become a multi-state investigation into Delhi, Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir with agencies working together to trace the potential operatives, facilitators and financial connections. Officials of Crime Branch raided Al-Falah university during the weekend and collected documents, interrogated personnel, and checked records of students.

A suspicious trail of ₹20-lakh funds also was detected by the intelligence agencies involving three doctors; Umar, Muzammil, and Shaheen who all were under scrutiny. This money is believed to have been channeled via a Jaish-e-Mohammed facing a hand over a network by intelligence tips. Out of this sum, it is said to have spent almost 3 lakh buying 26 quintals of NPK fertilizer which was also capable of producing explosive material like the one used in the Delhi blast.
