CM Kejriwal’s judicial custody: In the alleged liquor scam in Delhi, the Rouse Avenue Court has extended the judicial custody of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal till August 20. He was produced through video conferencing from Tihar Jail.
“He was imprisoned… How will you BJP people imprison his education revolution?”, wrote AAP Delhi on X.
Earlier on Monday, the Delhi High Court upheld the CM Kejriwal’s judicial custody by the CBI in the same scam case. The High Court on Monday said that there is no malice in the action of the CBI, the agency has shown how the AAP supremo can influence witnesses who can muster the courage to testify only after his arrest.
The court said that after the arrest of Kejriwal by the CBI and the submission of relevant evidence, it cannot be said that it was without any proper reason or illegal. The court said that Kejriwal is not an ordinary citizen but a Magsaysay Award winner and the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party.
The High Court said that it is the duty of every court to ensure that the extraordinary powers of arrest and remand are not misused or are not used negligently and recklessly by the police.
The Delhi High Court on Wednesday (August 7) asked the ED what aspect is left in the petition challenging the bail granted to CM Kejriwal, who has already got interim bail from the Supreme Court in the money laundering case related to the excise policy.
