New Delhi: The budget session of Delhi government may be presented between 15 and 20 February. Approval has been received from the Delhi Cabinet to present the budget on February 16, the file of which has been sent to the Lieutenant Governor.
Usually the budget of Delhi is presented in the third or fourth week of March, but this year the budget of Delhi is being presented in the third week of February. Delhi government says that the budget for the financial year 2024-25 is being presented in February instead of March. Like the last financial year, this time’s budget is also expected to be huge.
As Finance Minister, Atishi will present the budget for the first time. In the budget for the financial year 2024-25, the government will pay special attention to education, health, electricity, roads, infrastructure and water. Last year, Kailash Gehlot, who became the Finance Minister after the jail term of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, had presented the budget of the Delhi government. This will be the 10th budget of the Aam Aadmi Party led Delhi government. In the last financial year, a budget of Rs 78,800 crore was presented, which was based on the theme of a clean and modern Delhi.
In the year 2015, the budget of Delhi was only Rs 30,940 crore, but it is continuously increasing. Therefore, it is expected that this time too there will be an increase in the budget.
Preparations have been finalized. Preparations for the budget of the upcoming financial year were being done by the Delhi government for the last 20 days. On January 6, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal held the first high-level meeting regarding the budget. During that time, the CM had a detailed discussion with all the ministers on the priorities of the upcoming budget.
