New Delhi: On the morning of May 14, at least four hospitals in Delhi, including the Deepchand Bandhu Hospital, the Dada Dev Hospital, the Hedgewar Hospital, and the GTB Hospital, got bomb threat calls. This may be considered a rather worrying phenomenon given that several comparable threats that have targeted important places in the city have recently appeared.

Two days earlier, on May 12, IGI Airport and several government hospitals in Delhi were also the targets of the bomb threats. The threats sent via email caused heightened security concerns and led to the authorities taking quick action. The Delhi Police have stated that the threat to IGI Airport was from an email account that was not identified, which said that an explosive device was planted on the premises.

Besides the airport, warning emails with bomb threats were sent to several government hospitals, such as Burari Government Hospital and Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Mangolpuri. The Delhi Police immediately started an investigation into these threats, aiming to find the sources of these emails and the level of their credibility.

The hospitals that received these ominous emails encompass a range of major medical facilities. The list of hospitals with their locations are as follows: Dada Dev Hospital in Dabri, Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital in Hari Nagar, Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital in Dilshad Garden, Hindu Rao Hospital in Malka Ganj, and Aruna Asaf Ali Government Hospital on Rajpur Road. Such threats come after another recent scare, where over 150 schools in the Delhi-NCR region got bomb threats, and this resulted in the alarm among students, parents, and school staff.

As a result of the threats, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued an official statement that the emails were a “hoax. ” Nevertheless, the authorities have not been careless about this issue. Security protocols have been strengthened, and intensive searches are conducted to ensure all the affected institutions are secure.
