New Delhi: Panic gripped the Delhi High Court after an email was received threatening of a bomb on the premises on Friday, police said, adding that the search and cordon operation was underway and the premises was evacuated. The email further alleged a broader conspiracy to target political heirs and suggested violent attacks on prominent figures, stating that “Udhayanidhi Stalin’s son will be acid burnt.”It also named other individuals it said should lead a political takeover and included an instruction to contact a named person for purported IED locations and defusing codes.
The email, addressed to the High Court staff, stated: “A smart and dynamic young Shia Muslim by the name Dr. Shah Faesal has successfully made links with the Pakistan ISI cells in Coimbatore to recreate the 1998 blasts today in Patna.
Security personnel are maintaining heightened vigil while judges chambers and courtrooms are being screened. Lawyers, litigants and court staff, who were vacated from the court building, were seen occupying the lawns at the premises, with many even taking the opportunity to have their lunch while waiting outside.
“We are carrying out search operations. Fire officials along with the bomb disposal squad and dog squad are present at the spot,” a senior police official said. However, in a latest update, Delhi Police called the news as fake as no bomb has been recovered from the premises. “Upon receiving information regarding a bomb in the court premises in Delhi, the Delhi Police team, along with the bomb disposal squad and canine unit, is present in the court premises and conducting an investigation. At first glance, this information appears to be false. All are requested not to pay attention to any kind of rumors”.
