Delhi’s political rivalry started early this year as Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alleges that the Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) indulged in voter list manipulation and vote buying. Asking the BJP strategic alliance partner RSS in a letter to its chief, Mohan Bhagwat, Kejriwal wanted to know if it supported the alleged last rampages of such malpractices.
He accused BJP leaders of distributing money to lure voters as well as creating scenes to remove the names of Purvanchali and Dalit voters from the voters’ list. To Bhagwat, Kejriwal objected to the BJP’s strategy in the run-up to the Delhi Assembly polls set for next February and demanded that the RSS explain its position on these claims.
Reacting instantly to it, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva counter-attacked Kejriwal and said that AAP and its leader are liars and are misgoverning Delhi. Sachdeva asked Kejriwal to leave the allegation aside and concentrate on the administration issues. He also claimed that the AAP had helped bring Fake documents and support for Rohingya and Bangladeshi people residing in Delhi to use them to vote Jehad.
During his rebuttal, Sachdeva challenged Kejriwal to tender an apology for the worsening pollution of the Yamuna River and stop his government from corrupting it. He also urged Kejriwal to stop advocating for drinking, stop promising the citizens, and reject the funds from what he said were anti-India forces.
Earlier, Kejriwal had sounded the poll debut warning bells by alleging large-scale manipulation of the voters’ list in his New Delhi assembly segment. He penned a letter to the Election Commission of India (ECI) for more than a whopping voter additions and deletions that were counted. As the 70-member Delhi assembly elections are nearer, such allegations and counter-allegations have intensified the political fervour in the capital.
