NEW DELHI: The Indian National Congress (INC) has named their senior leader Alka Lamba as its candidate for the Kalkaji seat in the upcoming Delhi Assembly Election. Lamba will be contesting against Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) current Chief Minister, Atishi Marlena.

It was speculated that Lamba’s name was left out of Congress’s second candidate list, but the announcement from the INC has made her way clear to contest. As per the sources, Lamba was hesitant to contest from Kalkaji.

Alka Lamba started her political career as the national president of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), and then she entered into mainstream politics. In 2015, she contested as an Aam Aadmi Party candidate and won the Chandni Chowk seat. However, after her term was over, she rejoined Congress in 2019.

The Kalkaji seat would be having a fierce battle between INC’s Lamba and AAP’s Atishi.
