New Delhi: The air quality in several parts of Delhi continued to be in ‘severe’ category on Wednesday morning amid unfavorable meteorological conditions. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the AQI stood at 430 in Anand Vihar, 423 in Punjabi Bagh, 417 in RK Puram, 411 in Patparganj, and 413 in Rohini at 6 am today.
Priyanka Gandhi who resides in Delhi left for Jaipur amid rising pollution-related health issues. Former Congress President shifting to Jaipur is temporary until Delhi’s air quality improves. Gandhi has been suffering from respiratory problems and doctors have advised her to move to a place where air quality is better temporarily. Ms Gandhi had been admitted to Delhi’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in September after showing fever symptoms and was discharged a day later. She had also been admitted to a hospital in January because of respiratory issues.
Earlier on 14 November, two Indian cities joined New Delhi being among the world’s worst 10 for pollution on Monday morning, with smoke heavy in the air a day after revelers let loose with firecrackers for Diwali.
New Delhi took, as it often does, the top spot. It had an air quality index (AQI) figure of 420, putting it the ‘hazardous’ category.
But it was also joined in the top 10 by Kolkata, which came in fourth with an AQI of 196, while the financial capital of Mumbai was eighth with an AQI of 163.
