New Delhi: “In the so-called excise policy scam of Delhi, CBI and ED investigations have been going on for the past two years. In these two years, a question has come up again and again – Where is the money trail? Where did the money go?…No proceeds of crime were recovered from any leader, minister or worker of AAP…Arvind Kejriwal was arrested in the same case two days back on the basis of the statement of just one person – Sharat Chandra Reddy. He is the owner of Aurobindo Pharma…He was summoned on 9th November 2022 for questioning. He clearly said that he never met or spoke with Arvind Kejriwal and has nothing to do with AAP. As soon as he said that, he was arrested the next day by the ED. After being in jail for several months, he changed his statement. He said that he met Arvind Kejriwal and spoke with him over the excise policy matter. He was granted bail as soon as he said that. But where is the money? Where is the money trail?”, said Atishi in the press conference.
AAP announced the press conference through a tweet on the money trail from Delhi Excise Policy.
Security personnel are patroling in central Delhi on Saturday amidst a call from the AAP to assemble at Shaheedi Park in protest against the arrest of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with a money-laundering case related to the excise policy.
According to Delhi Minister Gopal Rai, all AAP MLAs, councillors, office-bearers, and representatives from the INDIA bloc will convene at Shaheedi Park at 10 am on Saturday, coinciding with the martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev, to take a vow to safeguard democracy.
Arvind Kejriwal has been remanded to the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for six days until March 28, following his arrest in relation to the Delhi liquor policy scam. The ED has alleged that Kejriwal orchestrated the liquor scam and tracked the money trail to the Goa election campaign in 2022.
According to ED, the chief minister demanded substantial bribes from liquor policy stakeholders, promising them undue benefits, and these funds were utilized during the Punjab and Goa elections. Senior advocate and Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi, representing Kejriwal, argued against routine remand, suggesting a review of the necessity of Kejriwal’s custody.
Kejriwal said on Friday that he was with his parents when the ED officials came to his house. Kejriwal revealed to that he was taken by surprise by the swift arrest and had anticipated that the ED would wait for at least two to three days before taking action.
