New Delhi: Rajya Sabha MP of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Sanjay Singh condemned the Centre, CBI on Sunday for arresting Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in the alleged scam linked to the Delhi excise policy. Singh claimed that the arrest was pre-planned, adding that this action was under the direction of the Union government.

Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by CBI on June 26th on corruption charges linked to the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy. Sanjay Singh criticised the Centre for weakening the judiciary, law and order, and the constitution of India by levelling what he called a fake and gimmicky case against Kejriwal after a two-year drama.

Another bias by AAP MP Singh is the one he directed at the two agencies, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and CBI, of contempt of court for hunting for exceptions in the Supreme Court. He mentioned identical acts against Manish Sisodia with the same agencies asserting cases without sufficient evidence merely to accomplish their purposes.

Singh was dismayed, “Rouse Avenue Court said ED does not have evidence against Arvind Kejriwal; is acting in a vengeful nature,” as ANI quoted. He accused the ED of unconstitutional measures in a bid to get a stay on Kejriwal’s bail at the high court.

Singh said that the central government thought that Kejriwal might be released, and after the CBI arrest, they filed some charges and got Kejriwal detained again.

Arvind Kejriwal has been in jail since March 21, 2024, and rearrested for brief period in the month of April 2024 for campaigning for his party during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Some of the strategies are as follows: The legal tussle is not yet over, and constant charges by AAP leaders such as Sanjay Singh show the power struggle between the Delhi government and central agencies.

It is not a unique phenomenon, as political and judicial struggles within the country are concerned, where the AAP fights against what it regards as politically motivated litigation processes targeting its leadership.
