What is PM Uday Yojana?

The Pradhan Mantri Delhi Awas Adhikar Yojana (PM-UDAY) aims to provide property ownership rights to the residents of 1,731 notified unauthorized colonies of Delhi. These rights have been given under the Rules relating to Recognition of Property Rights of Residents of Unauthorized Colonies in the National Capital Territory of Delhi, 2019.

DDA officials clarified that the allocation of property rights does not create any hindrance for the residents of these colonies in buying and selling the property. Apart from this, the residents also get the facility to get loans from banks and financial institutions on the basis of these properties. Officials also said that if the residents want to make changes in the existing structures, they can also get the necessary map approved.

The scheme was started in 2019

PM Uday Yojana in Delhi was launched by the Central Government on 29 October 2019. The objective of this scheme is to provide ownership of their houses to about 40 lakh people residing in unauthorized colonies through the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). More than 1.27 lakh applications have been received under this scheme, and more than 29 thousand people have received Agreement to Sell.
