The Haryana Pradesh Congress has released its blueprint of the strategy for the upcoming assembly elections scheduled to be held on 5th, October on Saturday. According to the manifest, there is a set of measures that necessarily contribute to strengthening the welfare and support of some groups of the population in the state. One of the biggest promises it provides is the formation of the Farmers’ Welfare Commission, which will solve issues related to farmers. The party has also promised to give ₹2 crore to families of soldiers who were martyred while in service, thus vowing to pay homage to the armed forces personnel.
Earlier, the Congress party had declared seven major assurances and out of them, some of the assurances declared are – MSP legal rights protection, caste census, and LPG cylinders at just ₹500. On the same, the manifesto promises ₹2,000 per month to every woman in the age group of 18-60 years and ₹6,000 pension to every elderly person, physically challenged and widowed woman. The party has laid down its policy to provide two lakh new permanent government jobs and free 300 units of electricity per month to households.
One key highlight of the manifesto is that the party acknowledges the losses incurred by farmers during the agitations against the repealing of farm laws. Congress has said that upon coming to power, it will provide ‘martyr’ status to the 736 farmers who died during these protests. As a tribute, then there will be a memorial, the civil society will give employment to their families, the farmers.
Also, the ₹2,000 monthly assistance will be extended under the Indira Ladli Behan Yojna for women who do not pay income tax. Congress also wants to cancel the BJP’s Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) portal and study other portals that may have created problems for the public, like the property ID and ‘Meri Fasal Mera Byora’.
