M.K. Stalin, leader of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, tightened his campaign to secure victory in the elections on Friday when he took a different option by using the Chennai Metro at the centre of the city. The Chief Minister took a ride on the metro at Chennai Central station to DMS Metro Station and used the ride as a means of directly interacting with commuters.
Throughout the ride, Stalin engaged with the passengers, heard their complaints and asked them to support him before the next round of elections in the Assembly. His outreach to the public is part of a wider campaign strategy of engaging the grassroots and being accessible to people.
The powerful Kolathur constituency is a contesting area by Stalin who has been on the road over the past few weeks touring various constituencies within the state, holding rallies and meeting electorate. He has been working towards solidifying the fortunes of the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA) in what will likely be a hotly contested election.
In the meantime, the efforts of campaigning were also intensified by the Deputy Chief Minister, Udhayanidhi Stalin who took rallies and met people in the Triplicane constituency at Chennai.
Tamil Nadu The state of Tamil Nadu will vote in single phase on April 23 and counting will be done on May 4. The main rivalry is likely to be between the SPA and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), headed by the All India Anna Dravida Mazhakam. Vijay, the actor cum politician will also make his electoral debut which may make the election a three cornered fight.
Stalin made also made an early morning outreach in Sirkazhi earlier this week, as he continues his outreach to voters all through Tamil Nadu.
