Chhattisgarh: A government panel constituted to study the side effects of the COVID vaccination, confirmed the first death due to anaphylaxis following COVID-19 vaccine on 15 June.

Another post vaccination death was reported from Ambedkar hospital in Raipur, Chhattisgarh on Monday. The deceased got vaccinated at a health care centre in Tekri village, following which he neglected the post-covid vaccination guidelines and consumed alcohol the next morning. As per the guidelines issued by the Union Health Ministry, a vaccinated individual is instructed to refrain from smoking or consuming alcohol for at least 15 days from the day he/she receives the jab.

As his health deteriorated, he was brought  to the Ambedkar Hospital where he breathed his last.

A probe into the matter revealed, nearly 1300 individuals got vaccinated at the same centre and complained of no side effects. Chief Medical Officer, Dr Meera Baghel said that 9 people were vaccinated from the same vial and had no complaints. The probe confirmed that this was not a side effect of the vaccine but the result of negligence.

The Health Ministry on June 15 said that the number of deaths reported following COVID-19 vaccination in the country is only 0.0002% of 23.5 crore doses administered which is within the expected death rates in a population.
