Durg: A 30-year-old woman was arrested on Monday, for allegedly killing her husband for taunts on her dark complexion, thr police said on Tuesday. Sangeeta Sonwani allegely killed her husband Anant Sonwani (40) in Amleshwar village on Sunday night, said Devansh Rathore, sub-divisional officer of police (Patan area).
Preliminary investigation revealed the victim used to call his wife ugly and frequently taunt her about her dark skin. The couple had quarreled on the issue several times in the past. On Sunday the couple entered into an argument qand in a fit of rage, Sangeeta allegedly attacked her husband with the axe kept in the house and killed him on the spot, the official said. The woman also allegedly chopped off the victim’s genitals, he said.
The probe further revealed Sangeeta was the second wife of the victim, whom he had married after the death of his first wife.
The woman who initially tried to mislead the villagers the next morning has been booked under section 302 (murder) and other relevant provisions of the IPC and a further probe is underway.
