Raipur. Voting will be held tomorrow for the three-tier panchayat elections, which will be conducted in three phases using ballot papers. Voting will be held on February 17, 20 and 23, while counting of votes will be done on February 18, 21 and 24. In this election, voting will be held for 433 district panchayat member and 2,973 Janpad Panchayat member posts. Apart from this, Sarpanches will also be elected in 11,672 Gram Panchayats.
The 8th Raj Adhiveshan of Chhattisgarh Manwa Kurmi Samaj will be held on February 16 in Dharsiwan’s industrial area Sankara (Nikko), in which a Kalash Yatra will be taken out in the morning. Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will be the chief guest in the program. Khodsaram Kashyap, Central President of Chhattisgarh Manwa Kurmi Samaj will preside, while the coordinator will be Neelmani Parganiha, Dharsiwan Raj Pradhan. The special guests will include Vijay Baghel, Patron and MP Durg, and Minister Tankaram Verma.
Code of conduct void in urban areas
The State Election Commission has removed the model code of conduct after the results of the urban body elections were declared. The commission had released the election program on 20 January 2025 for the election and by-election of the posts of mayor, chairman and councilor of urban bodies in 2025. With the announcement of the program, the model code of conduct came into force in the concerned urban areas. After the counting of votes was completed on February 15 in 173 urban bodies of the state, the State Election Commission has nullified the code of conduct in these areas.
