Raipur: Amid the reservation dispute in Chhattisgarh, Vishwabhushan Harichandan has been appointed as the new Governor of Chhattisgarh. He was working as the governor of Andhra Pradesh and will soon resume duties in Chhattisgarh to replace Governor Anusuiya Uikey.
Congratulating, Mr. Vishwa Bhushan, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel tweeted, ‘His excellency the President has appointed Mr. Vishwa Bhushan Harichandan as the new Governor of Chhattisgarh. Many congratulations and best wishes to him”.
84-year old Harichandan has been a five-time MLA from Bhubaneshwar and Chilka assembly in Odisha. He had started his political journey in 1971 with Jansangh and later remained the Andhra General Secretary of Jana Sangh until 1977.. he has also served as a cabinet minister in BJP and BJD government in Andhra Pradesh in 2004.
Extending best wishes to Ms. Uike, CM Baghel tweeted, “our current governor Ms. Anusuiya Uikey ji will now fulfill her new constitutional responsibility as the Governor of Manipur. Best wishes to her”.
CM Baghel also congratulated Mr. Ramesh Bais for becoming the Governor of Maharashtra.
