Raipur: Union Jal Shakti Minister, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat arrived at Raipur today. Landing at Swami Vivekananda Airport, Gajendra Singh headed towards the guest house designated for the Ministers.
After attending the webinar held in Raipur. He convened with CM Bhupesh Baghel at 12 noon. Both the ministers reviewed the Jal Jeevan Mission and their plans to deliver pure drinking water to every household in the rural areas. Following which he returned to Pahuna and had a dialogue with party leaders and other functionaries from 1:45 to3 pm.
CM Baghel has assured to expedite the implementation of the program under which the state has determined to establish 22 lakh portable water connections in rural areas this year.
On the question of providing water to the fluoride and arsenic affected habitations like Supebeda of Chhattisgarh, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said, the central government will give up to 60 percent grant for drinking water schemes in the habitations with poor quality water. Community filter plants can be installed in such places till door-to-door tap connections are reached, he added.
Apart from CM Baghel and Chief Secretary, Chhattisgarh Public Health Engineering Minister Guru Rudra Kumar, BJP MLA Brijmohan Agarwal and BJP District President Shrichandra Sundrani were also present in the guest house with Shekhawat.
