Chhattisgarh: Union Minister Amit Shah arrived at Chhattisgarh today morning accompanied by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel to pay tribute to the martyrs of the Maoists attack which took place on Saturday and held a discussion with the state officials. Mr Shah was received by CM Bhupesh Baghel at 10:40 am today (5April) at the Jagdalpur airport. 

“On behalf of the Prime Minister, Central government and the country, I pay tributes to the security personnel who lost their lives in the Naxal attack. The country will always remember their sacrifice for taking the fight against Naxals to a decisive turn,” said Amit Shah.

Later he arrived at the Police Lines to lay wreaths at the coffins of the 14 security personnel. Later, he convened with the senior police officers of the state at the Conference Hall of Police Coordination Centre. Following which he met the Jawan’s injured in the Maoist attack led by the commander of battalion number-1 Madvi Hidma. 

Following the wreath laying ceremony, Home Minister Amit Shah held a security meeting with top officials. Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel is also present in the meeting.

After the meeting with the senior police officials, Mr Shah convened with CM Bhupesh Baghel and discussed about the Naxal attacks in the past. He announced strict scrutiny of such incidents and eviction of Naxalites from Chhattisgarh. Subsequently, the CM in a media statement said that the Naxalites incurred a huge loss of manpower as it is rumoured around 4 tractors were spotted that carried injured Naxals.

 “I held a review meeting with Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel and officers of security forces. The officers said that this fight should not weaken, which shows that the morale of our jawans is intact,” said Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Jagdalpur while interacting with the media.

The Union Home Minister while addressing the media also pointed out that, “in the past few years, the fight against Naxalism has reached a decisive turn and this unfortunate incident has taken this fight two steps forward.”

According to Bastar IG Sundarraj P, 12 Naxals have been killed in Muthar and 16 Naxal casualties were reported. Around 10 weapons of the Indian Security Personnel have been looted which included 7 A-47, 2 SLR and 1 LMG.

At 5:20 pm the Union Minister will arrive in Raipur and visit the three hospitals namely Ramakrishna hospital, Narayana Hospital and MMI Hospital where the injured are being given medical aid. 

Earlier on Sunday, Mr Shah held a meeting at the capital with senior officers, including home secretary Ajay Bhalla, intelligence bureau director Arvind Kumar and senior CRPF officials. Shah said a befitting response will be given to those responsible for the Maoist attack. “Our security men have lost their lives; we will not tolerate this bloodshed and a befitting reply will be given at an appropriate time.”

The ambush broke between the forces and the Maoists after false intelligence information surfaced. At around 11:10 am on Saturday both sides opened attack.  Officials familiar with the matter said on Sunday that Maoists carried out a “U-type” ambush after luring security personnel into a trap with the input of the possible presence of Hidma.
