Chhattisgarh: Two women Naxals were killed in an encounter with DRG Jawans near Gonderas jungle in the outskirt of Sukma and Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh on Saturday. The encounter killed two female Naxal cadres who held a bounty of Rs 5 lakh each, Dantewada SP Abhishek Pallav informed.
The encounter is reported to have begun at 5:30 am on Saturday morning, in the camp Nahadi where Maoists have been actively operating. According to Dantewada SP, the Naxals had been aggressively threatening to murder civilians in the nearing villages. Areas like Burgum, Gonderas area have been reported under the control of Malangir Area Committee majorly.
The two deceased Naxal women have been identified as Hidme Kohrame of the Mallinger Area Committee, Darbha Division, who held a reward of Rs 5 lakh on her head. The other has been identified as Pojje, with a bounty of Rs 1 lakh. Meanwhile, security officials have initiated a search operation for the injured and absconding Maoists. 3 locally fabricated rifles, ammunitions, communication devices, explosive materials are recovered from the spot.
Naxals in the state of Chhattisgarh and its neighbouring states have been proactively occupying areas in the forest illegally and spreading fear across the nearby villages. Several operations have been launched by security heads to curb the threat from the Maoist community.
