According to reports, on November 10th, the Basna police station received information from an informant that a large consignment of illegal marijuana was being transported from Odisha to Uttar Pradesh via the Mahasamund route via Padampur in an Eicher truck. During the investigation, a suspicious Eicher truck with an Odisha registration number (UP 72 BT 3907) was spotted at the Palsapali barrier, and the police surrounded and stopped it.

A search of the vehicle revealed 60 kilograms of marijuana hidden in three sacks under the truck’s tarpaulin. The two men in the vehicle identified themselves as Saddam Hussain (34) and Qiyamuddin (26), both residents of Pratapgarh district (Uttar Pradesh). During interrogation, the accused admitted that they were bringing the marijuana from Odisha to sell in Uttar Pradesh.

Police arrested both accused and registered a case under Section 20(b) of the NDPS Act. The accused have been remanded to judicial custody. This action by the ANTF and Basna police is being considered a major success against drug trafficking.
