Surajpur: The government of Chhattisgarh has decided to uplift its agriculture sector under its first independent project. Chhattisgarh State Warehousing Corporation(SWC) Chairman Arun Vora announced the state’s first self-supported Trussless godown at Surajpur.
The Trussless godown will be created to store food grains with modern technology. As per the official announcement, an investment of Rs 4.75 crore is scheduled to construct the godown that will house nearly 7200 tonnes of food grains.

According to Arun Vora, the Trussless roofs are the future of warehousing which would enable competent storage of food grains.
The Galvalume sheets are the latest in metal roofing without the need for any structural members. The roof offers protection to people, goods, machinery and waives-off the damage that could be incurred due to rainwater leakage in ordinary warehouses. These roofs are non-combustible and have a higher tensile strength that gives it full protection against fire, earthquake and hurricane-like natural calamities.
The Food Corporation of India (FCI) and Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) approved the use of Trussless roofs in warehouses. Following which the centre established a warehouse in Tifra using the same technology. The warehouse at Sarguja will be a pilot project run by the state government.
