Raipur– A distressing incident occurred in Raipur as a media student, who had attempted suicide, tragically passed away during treatment. The 25-year-old girl, identified as Smriti Thakur, hailed from Rajnandgaon. She had tried to take her own life by hanging herself with a scarf at her residence. Fortunately, her family intervened promptly, rescuing her and rushing her to a nearby hospital.
Smriti Thakur resided with her family in the Mahendra Nagar area of Rajnandgaon. Following her suicide attempt, her family discovered her and saved her life, swiftly transporting her to the hospital. Due to her deteriorating condition, she was later referred to a private hospital in Raipur after receiving initial medical aid in Rajnandgaon. Sadly, despite efforts to save her, the student succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday while undergoing treatment in the capital city.
The exact reason behind the family dispute leading to the suicide attempt remains unclear. Reportedly, Smriti hanged herself angrily following an altercation with her family members. However, authorities are investigating the matter, and the Rajnandgaon police are actively investigating the incident’s circumstances.
Smriti Thakur was pursuing an MSc in Electronic Media from Kushabhau Thackeray University, and she was in her fourth semester. Additionally, she worked for a few months at a private digital marketing agency while residing in a rented house in Raipur. The police are expected to question her friends and university acquaintances in their ongoing investigation, as no suicide note has been discovered thus far.
