Chhattisgarh: The Raipur Civil Lines police had deployed a team to Bengaluru on Thursday to escalate the investigation in the toolkit case.
In Bengaluru, the three-member team led by the additional SP (Raipur, rural) interrogated the chairman of Congress’ Research Cell, Rajeev Gowda. Following the two-and-a-half-hour session, case-related documents were also retrieved from the chairman’s possession.
It is reported that the team might move to Ahmedabad for further investigations. As a part of which it will also record the statements of Social Media Head for Congress Rohan Gupta and Soumya Verma, policy and political research consultant at the office of Rajeev Gowda.

Raipur police have actively been investigating after an FIR was lodged in the Toolkit Case. A team of CSP Kotwali Anjaneya Varshney, civil line police station in-charge RK Mishra and sub-inspector Manish Vajpayee led by Additional Superintendent of Police Raipur (Rural) Tarakeswar Patel had left for Bengaluru on Thursday to interrogate Congress leader Rajiv Gowda and others suspected.
The Raipur police had earlier registered an FIR against BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra and former Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh under IPC Sections 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 505 (1b,c) (publishing or circulating statements or rumors conducting to public mischief), 469 (commits forgery) and 188 (for flouting orders under Epidemic Diseases Act 1897).
The case was registered following an FIR lodged by the state Youth Congress and the Congress students’ wing NSUI at the Civil Lines police station in Raipur.
