Two different and tragic road accidents were reported in two dissimilar districts of Chhattisgarh where two people died and two were injured. These accidents occurred in Janjgir-Champa and Surajpur districts, and they indicate the risk of overspeeding and careless driving. The initial accident happened in the Akaltara-Baloda main road, nearby Kotgarh of Janjgir-Champa district at approximately 5 a.m. There was a massive crash of three trailers that crashed due to a head on collision at high speed.
The effect was so intensity that one of the trailers had caught fire in a few minutes. The driver who was trapped in the car was roasted to death. A second motorist was seriously injured and had to be rescued by the locals with assistance of hard work. After the incident, the Akaltara police and the fire brigade arrived to the spot and controlled the fire and sent the body to post-mortem. Early examinations indicate that the cause is overspeeding and a possible head on collision. The accident caused the traffic movement on the route to discontinue over a period of time.
In the second incidence, in the Kotwali police station area of Surajpur, neighbouring Sutiya Nala the pickup car of the two-wheelers was hit by a fast moving pickup automobile. One of the youth was killed immediately and another one was severely wounded and was taken to the district hospital, where he is receiving treatment. There were two other people with minor injuries. The name of the dead is still not known.
Outraged by the event, the locals came to attack the pickup driver who then escaped the building. It is reported that the vehicle was coming back following delivery of illegally acquired paddy. The pickup is in possession of police, and it is investigating the case.
