Raipur: As schools reopened for Class 10 and 12 on August 2 in Chhattisgarh, 3 students have been tested positive for the novel virus. As the cases went down, the Chhattisgarh administration had decided to resume offline schooling from August 2nd and had also set resumption criteria for the schools, according to which districts recording a positivity rate less than 1 per cent were permitted to resume physical classes for class 12 and 10.
After the detection of the cases, Panchidad School in Pratappur block has been sealed for 15 days. Students and staff who have been in contact with the infected candidates have been put under surveillance.
It must be noted that the parents of classes 8, 10 and 12 had strongly retaliated against the re-commencement of physical classes. In response to the agitation, Education Secretary and Public Education Commissioner Kamalpreet Singh informed that schools had made the necessary arrangements to safeguard the children and prevent the spread.
It should be recollected that several schools across the country were shut down in March 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic hit the country.
