Three youths died, and six were severely injured, were left on the Barsur-Chitrakot road in a tragic road accident. It took place in Mendri Ghoomar Mor, Mardum police station area, and these vibrations shook the region.
As per the initial hints, a Scorpio car was on its way at high speed when the driver lost control, and the vehicle crashed violently. The effects were such that three young people died instantly, and six were so badly wounded. The authorities were notified once the accident occurred by the locals.
As information came, the inhabitants of the Mardum police station were rushed to the scene by police personnel. Conveyance of the injured could be easily carried to the Community Health Center (CHC) in Lohandiguda with the help of an ambulance and volunteers available in the area. Doctors took the critically injured into Jagdalpur medical college, where they received further care after giving first aid to them, after the severity of the attack was taken into account.
The dead have been identified as Ram Ratan Thakur (20), Rupendra Netam (25), and Khileshwar Netam (18). Police established that the three were all residents of the Gariaband district. Their deaths have taken their families and communities into intense mourning as they have happened suddenly.
According to police officials, the preliminary examination suggests that speeding was a possible cause of the accident, though the nature of the events can only be investigated. The wrecked Scorpio car is in custody, and an additional technical inspection is involved to determine whether it is a case of mechanical failure or if it is due to other reasons that caused the accident.
Officials are making another appeal to drivers to follow the traffic rules and speed limits, especially on curvy and hilly highways such as the one that passes through the Barsur-Chitrakot highway, as it is a high-risk area that has witnessed numerous accidents. The research is still being carried out.
