Mungeli: In response to complaints about a school assistant teacher showing disinterest in attending school amid substance abuse issues, immediate action has been taken by the District Education Officer (DEO) on the directives of the Collector. It has been reported that the Assistant Teacher, Durgesh Rathore, stationed at Navalpur Primary School in the Lormi development block, has been suspended. This move comes after the Collector, Rahul Dev, directed District Education Officer G.L. Chaturvedi to conduct an inquiry into the allegations against Durgesh Rathore.
The Collector promptly instructed the DEO to carry out a thorough investigation, assigning the responsibility to the Block Education Officer (BEO) in Lormi. Following a substantiated investigation, disciplinary action has been taken under the provisions of the Civil Services (Classification, Control, and Appeal) Rules, 1966, leading to the suspension of Durgesh Rathore. During the suspension period, Durgesh Rathore will be attached to the Lormi BEO office, receiving subsistence allowance.
In a proactive step, the Collector, as part of the administration’s first response, provided appointment letters to dependents of deceased government servants in the education department. Aman Kulmitra, under the care of the late teacher Laxminarayan in Bitlada Primary School in Lormi development block, Rohit Kumar Dhruv, dependent of the late Ramchandra Dhruv in Deverhat Primary School in Lormi, and Sadhna Patel, under the care of the late Narendra Kumar Patel in Jarahapara Primary School, have been compassionately appointed in accordance with the rules.
This decisive action by the Collector showcases the commitment to maintaining the integrity and discipline within the education system and sends a clear message regarding the zero-tolerance policy toward substance abuse and negligence in teaching duties. The move is aimed at ensuring a conducive and responsible learning environment for students, emphasizing the importance of educators’ dedication to their roles in shaping the future generation.
