Chhattisgarh: The Swarnim Vijay Varsh Victory Flame commemorating 50 years of Victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war reached the Chilpi area in Kabirdham district on Tuesday.

The flame of victory would be stalled in the state till October 19. During its stay, the Army would hold ceremonial and cultural events. As per the press release, the Chakra Awardees of the 1971 war will be felicitated at a ceremony tomorrow.

 Four flames of victory were lit from eternal flame at the National War memorial by PM Modi in New Delhi on December 16 2020 as a celebration of the victory. After which the flames embarked on their journey across the four cardinal directions across the country through the villages including villages of Param Vir Chakra and Maha Vir Chakra awardees who were a part of the  1971war.

The Indo-Pak war being commemorated began on December 3, 1971, and continued for 13 days after which Pakistan surrendered to India and Bangladesh.
