Gariyaband: Recently, in the recruitment process for Anganwadi assistant in Poonjipara, Devbhog, there is an issue over the forgery. Suspended headmaster Jogendra Kashyap has leveled allegations against the Block Education Officer (BEO) Devnath Baghel for making him alone an accused in the case. This matter consists of a forgery of a marksheet that was used in an effort to gain the position.
The news surfaced on November 21, 2024, when a news agency exposed pictures of the fake documents Tarini Baghel submitted to her fake Class 8 mark sheet to get the job. Although her marksheet for the examination showed that she secured 81%, the mark sheet she produced during the recruitment process showed 85%. Based on this revelation, Collector Deepak Agarwal brought the investigation under Devbhog SDM, who then, with the collaboration of the District Education Officer (DEO) and the District Women and Child Development Department. It was substantiated in the investigation report on 05 December 2024 that Headmaster Jogendra Kashyap of Barigaon Girls’ Middle School had fraudulently produced the marksheet for Tarini to get her recruited. Therefore, Tarini Baghel was dismissed, and Kashyap was suspended on December 31, 2024.
Kashyap denies embezzlement and says that he issued the marksheet on September 24, 2024, according to a written request by Tarini, one week after the application deadline of September 13. He claims that as per the directions of BEO Devnath Baghel, a photocopy of the marksheet was prepared on October 1, and the marks entered at the BEO office were tampered with. When asked why he did it, Kashyap said that he was forced to do so by his superiors.
The BEO, however, has completely dismissed the allegations as mischievous and frivolous. Although it has provoked departmental inquiries against Kashyap and the team of education officers of Balodabazar have been constituted to probe into the matter, the issue has arisen regarding the accountability of the chairman and the fair means of recruitment. The subject continues to be examined, and more changes are anticipated.
