Dhamtari: During testing, Niyo Rice Bran Oil, manufactured in Dhamtari, was declared below par, and the district administration has recovered ₹16,00,000 as a penalty. This is one of the biggest measures taken so far by the Food Safety Department concerning the seized products. The department has collected this sample of this oil from a grocery store in Gariyaband. Even when the oil was subjected to analysis at the State Food Testing Laboratory, the product failed the quality standard.
Based on these findings, additional collector Arvind Pandey ruled on the matter. Hence, a fine of ₹8 lakh each has been levied on the manufacturer PBS Oil and its nominee Prabhas Agarwal, thereby totalling ₹16 lakh. This huge penalty is the result of the increasingly stringent positions of the administration regarding food safety and consumer protection in the region.
