RAIPUR: Kabirdham District Collector Janmejay Mahobe on Thursday ordered a probe into the matter of a purported video that went viral on social media platforms in which a group of school students were seen being assaulted by others in Chhattisgarh’s Kawardha. A team of district officials was dispatched to probe the matter.

As per inputs the incident took place on March 11 in Targegaon Jungle village under the Bodla development block of Kabirdham district. A video of the incident went viral on the internet on Wednesday. In the video, the senior students are seen assaulting juniors and chopping off their hair. In one of the videos, a boy was seen getting slapped before his hair got chopped off with a pair of scissors. Several kids watched in horror on the floor as the brutal act happened, the video showed.

As the video went viral a case was registered against the eight students, seven of them minors of Eklavya residential school in Chhattisgarh’s Kabirdham district. SP of the school was immediately removed and the principal Pramod Prakash was issued a show cause notice.

A preliminary probe revealed students of Class 11 allegedly assaulted and chopped the hair of pupils of Grade 6 and recorded the act on a mobile phone, said the government official.
