Raipur: More Swami Atmanand Government Excellent English medium Schools(SAGES) to come up in Chhattisgarh, sources said. The School Education Department of Chhattisgarh has decided to increase the number of such schools after its agenda was appreciated by Rahul Gandhi on his visit to Raipur on Thursday.

During his tour at the Science College Ground of Raipur, Gandhi interacted with the students of the school. Moreover, a presentation was also put up by the principal of SAGES Kanker District.

As per officials, nearly 72,000 students are enrolled across 171 schools of such kind in the state. The Dept aims to establish more such institutions in 146 development blocks of the state. The draft of which would be presented in the Budget session to be held from March 7th.

Swami Atmanand English Medium School Scheme was launched on 1 Nov 2020 by Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Shri Bhupesh Baghel to mark the occasion of statehood day.

The scheme aims to provide a level playing field to bright students from economically weaker sections of society. The schools have a state-of-the-art infrastructure such as the library, ultra-modern computer labs, science labs and a highly trained team of teachers and school heads ensuring all round development of child along with an opportunity to pursue one’s passion.
