Raipur: In response to the allegations posed by the opposition, state Agriculture minister- Ravindra Choubey pressed that the supply of fertilizers was short from the centre and that the state has initiated several schemes to provide fertilizers to the farmers.

The opposition at the monsoon session today claimed that 372 farmers had committed suicide in the state owing to the loss they faced due to a shortage of fertilizers. In the discussion held after the adjournment motion passed regarding fertilizers and seeds, BJP MLA Shivratan Sharma said that the farmers were buying fertilizers supplied by the centre at double rates owing to the black marketing in the state.

The Opposition also argued on the fertilizer allocation strategy and manure distribution.

Earlier today during the Question hour an argument spat on the PM Awas Yojana in which the opposition claimed that the scheme was not being implemented efficiently in the state. Responding to this, State Transport Minister Mohd Akbar stated that the RBI in 2019-2020 had halted the transfer of funds issued by the centre through Punja National bank after it had released its first instalment in June 2019.

Angered by the allegations levelled, the opposition members staged a walkout from the Legislative Assembly.
