State Government Preparing on War Footing Against the Third Wave; Ramps-Up Health Sector

Raipur: As the country continues from a devastating second wave of the coronavirus which hit the country in March, state and UT governments are now trying to prepare for a possible third wave.  

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday said that the state would leverage all its learning from the second wave and upgrade its health infrastructure. The state government has begun upgrading all district hospitals, and block-level hospitals, with the latest technologies. Additionally, it also decides to establish efficient health care units in remote areas. 

All district collectors are directed to submit an action plan including the budget to upgrade the facilities at hospitals and health centres within 15 days.

Talking about the action plan CM Baghel said,” all district hospitals and community health centres should be prepared as soon as possible. Under the plan, all aforementioned hospitals should be well equipped with operation theatres, labour room, laboratory, ICYU, ventilators, blood bank and free medicines.”  

Citing the shortage of doctors during the second wave, the state administration also ramped up the number of doctors in the community healthcare centres and directed all hospitals to engage specialists in the field of Paediatrics, Anaesthesia, Pathology, Medicine and Surgery.
