RAIPUR: Irregularities have been reported in paddy procurement centres of Lormi Tehsil, Mungeli district. Action is being taken against an employee for alleged irregularities and embezzlement of funds at the paddy procurement centre, Akhrar.
Sources confirmed that Dilip Patel the staffer employed at the paddy procurement centre was immediately fired. A video of the staffer allegedly collecting money from the farmers to enter their details in the paddy procurement register surfaced. Subsequently, Lormi’s SDM Parvati Patel ordered the firing of the staffer based on the investigation carried out by Naib Tehsildar.
Paddy Procurement in CG began on November 1st and will continue until January 31st next year. During this Kharif Marketing season the state govt eyes to procure 110 LMT. Last year, around 98 lakh MT of paddy was purchased from cultivators in the state. So far over 25 lakh, farmers have registered, and out of them, 95,000 are new registrations. In June this year, the Centre had hiked the minimum support price of paddy by Rs 100 to Rs 2,040 per quintal for the 2022-23 crop year
