RAIPUR: CM Bhupesh Baghel announced the implementation of the Mukhyamantri Vriksh Sampada Yojana. Under this special initiative, the state govt aims to conduct 15 crore tree plantations on 36 thousand acres of land in 1 year and 80 thousand acres of land in 5 years. Around 12 species of trees will be selected for being planted.
Under the Mukhyamantri Vriksh Sampada Yojana, farmers, willing land owners, government, semi-government, and autonomous institutions of the Government, private educational institutions, private trusts, Panchayats, and land contract holders can benefit from the scheme. So far, the registration of more than 16 thousand beneficiaries has been done by the Forest Department on 30 thousand acres of land for tree plantation.
Landowners of up to 5 acres of land will be given 100 percent financial assistance while those willing to utilize the scheme for lands above 50 acres will be given assistance of 50 percent.
For the purchase of marked species of trees, the government will decide the minimum sale price. After the planted trees mature in five years, they might be worth Rs 10,000 crores. Through this scheme, farmers can earn between 15,000 to 50,000. Additionally, farmers will receive benefits through carbon credit.
The main aim of Mukhyamntri Vriksh Sampada Yojana is to encourage commercial tree plantation in the state. It also aims to ensure a strengthened market system by arranging the sale of forest produce at a fixed support price.
