Korba: A complete standstill in Chhattisgarh as drivers’ strike halts operations. Police Superintendent Jitendra Shukla convened a meeting at the Transport Nagar Bus Stand with bus transporters and drivers, shedding light on the details of the new laws. Shukla aimed to dispel any confusion or misconceptions among the drivers, addressing the concerns that have arisen due to the recent legal changes.

During the meeting, the Police Superintendent effectively clarified the situation, alleviating any doubts or misinformation among the drivers. Providing comprehensive information about the new laws, he emphasized the importance of understanding the provisions to ensure compliance. One crucial aspect highlighted by the SP was Section 106(2) of the upcoming legislation. According to this section, if an individual’s negligent or reckless actions lead to someone’s death and they fail to report it to the police or magistrate, they could face a penalty of up to 10 years. However, the SP clarified that this provision would not be applicable to drivers who promptly report accidents to the police.

The Superintendent’s engagement aimed to foster awareness and cooperation, enabling a smooth transition to the new legal framework. By addressing the concerns of the transport community and disseminating accurate information, the police sought to ensure that drivers operate within the legal parameters while dispelling any misconceptions that may have fueled the strike.

It is noteworthy that the meeting took place against the backdrop of a statewide strike by drivers, disrupting the normal functioning of transportation services. The proactive approach of the police in clarifying the legal aspects and fostering understanding among drivers is a crucial step in maintaining law and order while ensuring the uninterrupted flow of essential services. The SP’s efforts underscore the significance of effective communication and engagement in resolving issues and promoting compliance with new legal provisions.
