Six Naxalites Arrested in Two Different Operations; Explosives Seized by Security Forces

BASTAR: A total of six Naxals two out of them carrying rewards were arrested in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar division, during a search operation launched by the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), its elite unit Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) and district force on Friday. The operation was launched from Dornapal and Polamaplli police stations into the interior forest on Thursday night.

Three Naxals were detained from the Polampalli police station area in the Sukma district in the early hours of Friday while they were allegedly planting an explosive to target security personnel.

The detained Naxals are identified as Muchaki Ganga (32), Madkam Bheema (27) and Kalmu Pojja (20). All are residents of Badepara Arlampalli village. Muchaki, who was the head of Chetna Natya Mandli (a cultural wing of outlawed CPI (Maoist)), carried a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head.

Explosives in a tiffin bomb, five gelatin rods, a cordex wire, six non-electric detonators, batteries, and firecrackers were recovered from their possession.

In another operation that was carried out on Wednesday, three other Naxals were arrested following an encounter with security personnel in a forest near Idenar village in Bijapur. The operation was launched by a joint team of the Special Task Force (STF), DRG from Dantewada and Bijapur, and CoBRA was involved in this action. Out of the three was a woman and a reward-carrying Naxal identified as Guddu Kursam (25), a member of the Gangaloor Local Organisation Squad (LOS) of Maoists.
