Raipur: Chhattisgarh Health Minister TS Singhdev, who is in the grip of corona infection, is also active during home isolation. He has written a letter to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. In which, he has sought help in starting the Genome Sequencing Lab in Raipur AIIMS and Raipur Medical College. Health Minister TS Singhdev has written that the new variant and its changing nature of Covid-19 remains a matter of serious concern globally. Our country is also no exception to this. In most states of the country, news of increasing infection of new variants of Covid is continuously coming out.
Since Chhattisgarh is surrounded by the borders of many states, as a result, new cases of corona are continuously coming up here. Singhdeo told the Union Minister, in Chhattisgarh, the facility of genome sequencing to detect the variant of the corona is not available. We have to send samples here to Bhubaneswar (Odisha) and seek the reports. It consumes a lot of time. Due to the slow pace of the investigation, we are also not able to know whether the corona variant spreading in our area is Omicron, Delta or any other. Due to this delay, a lot of difficulties are being faced in making important decisions and strategic preparation of infection prevention.
Health Minister TS Singhdeo has urged for the order to immediately start the genome sequencing facility in AIIMS Raipur. It is being told that the genome sequencing lab is almost ready in the central government institute. It needs recognition and other resources. The Health Minister has also demanded to start the facility of genome sequencing test in the Government Medical College located in the capital Raipur. For this, he has expected financial and technical cooperation from the central government.
