Durg: As many as seven Naxals surrendered in the Sukma district a police official said on Thursday.
Sukma SP Sunil Sharma confirming the surrender said the Naxals claimed to have been impressed by the Puna Narkom campaign- a campaign launched by the district police and the state government’s rehab policy.
The seven who surrendered have a history of active operations within the Bheji PS limits. Madkam Masa, Mandvi Hirma, Madkam Bhima, Madkam Bandi, Madkam Nanda, Sodi Joga and Lachinder are said to have been allegedly involved in several crimes.
SP added that the surrendered Naxals would be given facilities under both policies and will be provided assistance to settle in life. He further went on to praise the intelligence unit of CRPF’s 219th battalion that played a significant role in the surrender of the Naxals.
