NEW DELHI: The SC on Friday sought a response on appeal challenging the CG HC order on reservation quota. The Chhattisgarh High Court had set aside the state government’s 2012 decision to raise the quota to 58 percent in government jobs and admissions in educational institutions.
The notice was issued by a bench of Justices B R Gavai and Vikram Nath to Guru Ghasidas Sahitya Avam Sanskriti Academy against the September 19, 2022 order of the high court.
The State govt in its plea contended that the CG HC passed the order without detailed knowledge of facts and figures.
The CG HC set aside the state government’s 2012 decision to increase the quota to 58 percent in govt jobs and admission in educational institutions. According to the 2012 amendment, the quota for Scheduled Castes (SCs) was slashed by four percent to 12 percent, while reservation for Scheduled Tribes (STs) was increased by 12 percent — from 20 percent to 32 percent.
