New Delhi: The SC today dismissed the plea challenging the bail granted by the HC to the suspended ADG GP Singh. Rejecting the plea, the vacation bench of SC, JusticeBR Gavai and Hima Kohli, supporting the decision by the HC said that the court had granted the bail taking into account all the facts presented during the case hearing. The plea was filed by the CG Govt. The HC court had granted bail to the IPS officer instructing him to furnish a personal bond of Rs 50,000. It further instructed the officer to reside out of Raipur and not initiate any conversations with the media.
The HC on May 12 had granted bail to the suspended officer who was arrested for possessing disproportionate assets and conspiring against the centre. He was sent to judicial custody after being taken in by the EOW. After being arrested in July, he had sought relief on November 26, 2021, but the court had refused to grant interim relief.
An ACB in its statement on the raid conducted between July 1 to July 3 said that it had seized documents that claimed Singh’s had DA to his source of income. The statement also mentioned that Singh was allegedly involved in massive money laundering by investing in shell companies. He was booked for sedition n the basis of the documents seized.
