Chhattisgarh: The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to consider two separate petitions filed by Chhattisgarh Govt challenging State High Court’s order staying investigation in the FIR lodged against Former CM Dr Raman Singh, BJP National Vice President and BJP Spokesperson Sambit Patra for their tweets claiming that the Congress party has allegedly prepared a toolkit to tarnish the image of the country in the foreign media.
A bench comprising justices Surya Kant and Hima Kohli, Chief Justice N V Ramana said that present cases cannot be granted separate treatment as there are many cases pertaining to the toolkit issue that is pending in several high courts. The bench said, ” Don’t waste your energy here. We are not inclined to entertain the special leave petitions. We dismiss the SLPs, the bench said when senior advocate A M Singhvi, appearing for the state, wanted to refer to records of the case. The apex court has requested HC to expedite the pleas related to the fake toolkit case.
Earlier on June 11, Chattisgarh HC had passed two separate orders and granted interim reliefs to Sambit Patra and Raman Singh against the charges levied against them.
The President of the National Students Union of India Chattisgarh had lodged an FIR on May 19, alleging Singh and Patra from the opposition were circulating fabricated content on social media platforms using fake letterhead of Congress by projecting it as a toolkit developed by the party members.
