Sarpanch and upsarpanch of panchayat in Chhattisgarh agitated outside the CM’s residence on Saturday officials said.
Sarpanch Sangh president Aditya Upadhyay in a media interaction stated that they have been agitating for 13 demands for which they have announced a protest for 15 days.
Few of the demands include
1 A rise in honorarium of Upsarpanch by Rs 5000 and Sarpanch by Rs 20,000.
2 A lifelong pension of Rs 10000 to Sarpanchs.
3. Establishment of a work agency for Panchayat
4. Sarpanch of 4 panchayats be given Rs 10 lakh per annum by the State Govt as Sarpanch Nidhi
5. Kin of Sarpanchs killed by Naxals be given Rs 20 lakh as compensation and assure jobs to five members of the family.
6. Vertical and horizontal devolution of taxes be taken based on the Fifteenth Finance Commission (XV-FC)
7. Funds under MNREGA be released every 3 months.
8. An advance of 40 per cent of the total should be handed over for construction work under MNREGA
9. Tenure of Sarpanches of Chhattisgarh should be extended by two years considering the pandemic
