Mumbai Police have apprehended actor Sahil Khan for his rumoured role in the Mahadev betting app case. The Style actor was caught by the Mumbai Police Cyber Cell’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) even after the Bombay High Court’s denial of his interim bail.

The media allegedly found out that Sahil had been gone from Mumbai since the verdict of the high court was released. However, after 40 hours of operation, along with Chhattisgarh Police, the authority managed to locate and arrest the actors. Khan is supposed to depart soon for Mumbai and could be hauled up in court soon.

There is a strong feeling among lawmakers and the general public that the privacy of people has been compromised as actors Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, who endorsed this app, were summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The app faced controversy when it was revealed that it had two operators. The first was from Dubai, and the second was Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, also from Chhattisgarh from Bhilai. Recently, actress Tamannaah Bhatia was in the spotlight because she was featured in ad teasers for a subsidiary app of Mahadev. Ten days later, on April 29, she is to appear for questioning. Sanjay Dutt’s name also came up pertaining to the suit with Maharashtra against the charge.

Over 20 influencers promoting the FairPlay app are anticipated to be summoned soon for statement recording. The app illegally streams IPL matches despite Viacom18 holding the streaming rights, incurring over Rs 100 crore in losses for Viacom18.

In September 2023, an FIR was lodged against the betting app, leading to the questioning of several celebrities, including Badshah, Sanjay Dutt, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Tamannaah. In December 2023, an app employee was arrested.
