Bijapur: Heavy rains in Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra have posed a serious challenge for authorities to curb the disaster being triggered by natural forces. Rivers and streams are overflowing due to continuous rains and creating a flood-like situation in many parts of the state. An unfortunate incident came to light on Sunday where a truck full of Public Distribution System (PDS) Rice washed away while crossing a drain in the Bijapur district. The driver somehow saved his life by running towards the shore.
District Magistrate, Tehsildar, and Food Department Officials decided to reach the spot in the Bhopalpatnam area after receiving the news of this incident. Initial investigation suggests that a technical fault occurred in the truck while crossing the Barnala area after which the engine stopped working. Due to continuous rains, a flood-like situation has prevailed in the Godavari River the reason of which states of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana have been put on alert.
Meanwhile, another unfortunate incident was reported in the Bijapur district only two days ago where a CRPF jawan has washed away in the drain. The Jawan had gone out on a search in Naxal- the affected village after which he lost his control in heavy rains.
